Monday, May 29, 2006Sketch #75 On this sketch I was trying for a somewhat different expression than those I've drawn in the past. I kept the usual smile in the lips, but I drew the eyebrows darker and tilted down more in the center. I think it gives her a somewhat enigmatic expression. Ted |

Saturday, May 27, 2006Sketch #74 As promised a few posts ago, here's one I drew where the subject's smile shows her teeth :) Ted |

Thursday, May 25, 2006Sketch #73 Although the woman in this sketch may have a pretty face, I don't think I'd say she has a happy face. Her somewhat sad/forced smile gives me the impression that she is perhaps having a bad day and is not particularly thrilled at the opportunity to pose for a picture. Ted |

Tuesday, May 23, 2006Sketch #72 In contrast to the woman in the previous posting whose eyes are very "dreamy", I'd say the subject of today's posting looks much more aware of the here and now. I see I've gone with the closed lip look for quite a few sketches in a row. I'll have to draw one that shows some teeth again soon :) Ted |

Saturday, May 20, 2006Sketch #71: Woman with the Long Neck I really like the way this sketch turned out. I may have drawn her neck a wee bit too long (hence the title), but overall I am pretty happy with the way she turned out. She seems to have a dreamy look in her eyes, like she might be deep in thought, perhaps remembering a time long ago (or maybe she's just sleepy). Ted |

Tuesday, May 16, 2006Sketch #70 I haven't totally made up my mind about this sketch. On the one hand I see a lot of aspects I could have drawn better. On the other hand, I do think she is rather attractive overall, particularly the way her hair turned out. Well, eye of the beholder and all that. Oh, and before I forget, I created a screen saver consisting of 33 of my favorite sketches from this blog. It's available for free downloading from this page. Ted |

Monday, May 15, 2006Sketch #69 OK, here's the first of the "new" (post site-revision) sketches. I don't I did too badly considering my lack of practice over a several day stretch. I'd have to say the weakest point is her nose. I think it could use a little more definition. I'll have to work on that some. I think her chin on the other hand turned out quite nicely (although slightly asymmetrical). Ted |

Tuesday, May 9, 2006Sketch #68 And here she is, the last sketch of the batch. Now I really need to resume drawing in earnest. I think her eyes are perhaps a bit off, particularly the one on the right side of the page. The pupils look a little disproportionally large to me. I think she has a nice "dignified" expression though. Ted |

Saturday, May 6, 2006Sketch #67 OK, I'm back. Sorry for the week's delay in any new posts. I was busy moving Pretty Face Sketches to its new "dotcom" website and redesigning the layout a bit. The sketch at right is one I did back in April. I have one more for my next post and then it's "back to the drawing board" ... literally! Ted |
